Does James Allen Charge Sales Tax?

Many people who shop online for loose diamonds and even engagement ring do so to find value versus their local retailer.  Additionally, if you live in select States you may be able to avoid James Allen sales tax entirely.  Today I'll tell you about how the taxation works at this jeweler, and further clarify a few ways you may be able to save EVEN MORE money with the nation's top jeweler.

How James Allen Diamonds Charges for Sales Tax

First of all you need to know how the laws surrounding sales tax usually work. Generally, any brick and mortar store in the U.S is required by law to add sales tax to the total order cost and you will likely have to pay the sales tax if you buy a diamond from any retail store. However, laws are different when it comes to online only businesses

However, it isn’t as simple as you think. Unlike the rest of the world, sales tax laws in the United States are different for every state and are not same for the whole country. This means that sales tax in your state may be higher or lower than other states in the country.

Similarly, sales tax laws for online businesses are also different depending on the state. For example, if you are living in Maryland or New York, regardless of where you buy a diamond from, you are subject to taxation.

But what if you are in another state away from New York?

You’ll get to buy the diamond free of sales tax from James Allen unless you are getting the diamond delivered to a state where sales tax is applicable.
